From May 4 to May 28, 2023, the exhibition hall of the Cultural and Historical Complex "Golden Ring of the city of Vitebsk "Dvina" hosts an exhibition of Alexander Tarasenkov, a member of the Union of Photographers of Russia, "The Banner of Victory". The project’s work is united by the theme of Victory Day celebration. The photographer has been collecting a collection of these touching and truthful shots for several years. All of them were made directly on Victory Day. The heroes of Alexander Tarasenkov’s photographs are children and their parents, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and those who found her as children. The leitmotif of the exhibition is a sense of celebration and universal gratitude for the Great Victory. It was these emotions that the photographer managed to capture in pictures filled with joy with tears in his eyes.

My work "The Last night of may" the winner in the category #longlongday, and two other my works were among the finalists of the competition. The competition was attended by more than 1,600 people from all over Russia, as well as from the USA, Germany, France, Italy, Cyprus, Belarus, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan! All the works of the finalists and winners of the competition are displayed in the Museum as a slide show at the exhibition "Cage" (5th floor of the Museum’s exhibition complex).

My photo work “The blizzard swooped like a bird” won the 3rd prize in the nomination “Genre Photography” at the X Photo Competition named Vitaly Sobrovin. On February 7, 2020, an awarding ceremony for the winners of the competition and the opening of the final exhibition will take place in the exhibition hall of the Belgorod Gallery of Photo Art.

«Enclave» Alexander Tarasenkov personal exhibition in Library 37, Moscow, Russia.
Many of us were reading childhood tales of the Brothers Grimm and in their fantasies presented themselves as participants in fabulous events unfolding in the ancient streets with magical gingerbread houses. And even as adults, we unwittingly freeze, admiring the architecture of small German towns, and dream of escaping there on vacation to plunge into peace and quiet.

But the most surprising thing is that it is not necessary to travel outside our country to travel to the German past. The author of the exhibition “The Enclave”, Alexander Tarasenkov, suggests that we briefly plunge into the life of just such a very small city by Moscow standards, admire its architecture and listen to the stories told by the old stone pavement.

In the Kaliningrad region at the confluence of the rivers Tylgi and Neman stretches a city whose history goes back in time. The fairy-tale town of Tilsit was founded in 1288 and was once part of the Memel region in East Prussia.

Being located in the very north of the region, on one side it borders on the Lithuanian coast, and being connected to it by the bridge of Queen Louise, as if in two states at once. In 1946, the city was renamed Sovetsk and is a border town in the Kaliningrad region, in fact, a Russian enclave in the west of the country.

In this amazing place the past and the present, old Europe and immense Russia magically mixed. It seems that the line between a fairy tale and reality is so thin that accidentally opening the old door, you can enter a completely different world and become the hero of a fairy tale printed in an old book displayed in a small shop window around the corner.

And if you carefully look at the reflections of houses in crystal puddles or in the dense fog of fog, you can see how absolutely amazing creatures slip into our world unnoticed to whisper another amazing story about brave warriors, beautiful princesses and evil wizards in the ear of an attentive listener.

But the beauty of this place hides the sensitive attention and inner concentration under it. Today Sovetsk has a little over forty thousand inhabitants and is one of our western outposts, which reliably stores and protects the borders of Russia. In the neutral sky along the border, NATO reconnaissance aircraft can be seen, and our western group of troops regularly conduct large-scale exercises in the region.
